What happens after you submit a funding application?

Waiting for an answer? Here is what Cherokee needs from your attorney and what to ask about the next step.

The short answer

An application starts a case review. Cherokee confirms the claim with your attorney before funding. A submitted form is not an approval, a signed agreement or confirmation that money has been sent.

Make sure the team has the right attorney contact

Have the name and current contact details of the attorney handling your claim ready. Tell the office you have requested a funding review so the request can reach the right person.

If you gave an old phone number or have changed attorneys, provide the current details. Ask which office contact the team is trying to reach.

Ask what is still needed for the review

Cherokee reviews the case with your attorney. The attorney must confirm the claim and acknowledge the funding before money is issued. Submitting the application does not replace that step.

If you are waiting, ask whether case information, an attorney response or another step is outstanding. Your attorney remains responsible for the legal claim throughout the review.

Explain the deadline without assuming a payment date

If rent or another bill is due, tell the team the amount and due date. A review depends on the case and the information available from your attorney. Do not treat a requested payment date as a confirmed one.

Ask for a status update tied to your application. If you have not received a written offer or completed the agreement, those steps still come before funding.

Read the offer before deciding

If Cherokee makes an offer, read the amount you would receive, the charges and the payoff terms. Ask for the payoff at different possible settlement dates and discuss the offer with your attorney.

Applying and accepting are separate decisions. Ask any questions before signing, and keep a copy of the written terms. State-specific disclosures and your agreement govern the product.

If you are waiting for an update

  • Check that the team has your current attorney contact details.
  • Ask which information or response is still outstanding.
  • Explain the expense and deadline you are trying to cover.
  • Keep the written offer and agreement separate from the application.

Common questions

Does a submitted application mean I am approved?

No. Submitting starts the review. An offer, your decision to sign and the issue of funds are separate steps.

Should I submit again if I have not heard back?

Ask the team about the status of your existing request and confirm your contact details. Ask what is still needed before starting another application.

Can I plan a bill payment around my application date?

An application date does not confirm a funding date. Tell the team when the bill is due and ask about your application status before relying on the money.
