Account Executive

The Role

The Account Executive will be responsible for prospecting, establishing, and growing successful relationships with legal professionals and healthcare providers to drive revenues for Cherokee’s legal and medical funding services.

As Account Executive, you will be responsible for selling Cherokee’s legal and medical funding services by encouraging legal and healthcare professionals to refer their clients to Cherokee. You will grow revenues by prospecting for new accounts and growing Cherokee’s share of existing accounts.

In addition, you will be responsible for participating in the day-to-day operations of processes related to Cherokee’s legal and medical funding services to constantly improve our services for our clients.

Key areas of responsibilities will include:

  • Prospect, qualify, and “sell “ Cherokee’s legal and medical funding solutions to legal professionals and healthcare provideers
  • Consistently surpass monthly performance objectives
  • Establish and foster client relationships within law firms and medical practices
  • Provide functional leadership in market with ability to represent Cherokee at industry events
  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration with underwriting, marketing and operations
  • Perform effectively working independently, in small teams, and communicating with colleagues and clients in different locations, geographies, and timezones
  • Requirements/Skills:

  • BS/BA or equivalent experience required
  • 2+ years experience in a sales role, preferably in legal or medical services
  • Ability to build pipeline and make phone calls, generate new leads, schedule appointments as well as a nurture and advance existing opportunities

  • Case Manager

    The Role

    The Case Manager will be responsible for coordinating the care of injured clients across a network of healthcare professionals. The Case Manager coordinates resources and creates flexible, cost- effective options for injured individuals on a case-by-case basis to facilitate quality individualized treatment goals. The Case Manger will help patients to get the care they need by working to help schedule patients’ appointments and evaluate patients’ progress. The Case Manager will have the ability to explain medical conditions and treatment plans to the patient, family members and their attorneys. In addition, you will be responsible for participating in the day-to-day operations of processes related to Cherokee’s legal and medical funding services to constantly improve our services for our clients.

    The ideal candidate will have either personal injury or medical case management experience. This position will oversee and monitor personal injury client’s cases and track their medical progress. Candidates should have understanding of medical procedures and terminology – most specifically pain management and orthopedics as well as an understanding of Personal Injury.

    Key areas of responsibilities will include:

    • Be able to manage large case loads
    • Dealing with client intake to settlement
    • Daily contact with clients over the phone, email and fax
    • Communicate with underwriting and sales departments
    • Organize and maintain documents in a paper or electronic filing systems
    • Handle all aspects of client relationship after they are approved by underwriting
    • Evaluate patient treatment plans for appropriateness, medical necessity, and cost effectiveness.
    • Assist patients in the scheduling of appointments.
    • Provides planning, scheduling and evaluation of patient’s progress.
    • Evaluate CPT codes and related charges on medical bills to ensure they contain usual and customary charges.
    • Obtain case documents from attorneys, paralegals and other case managers for to evaluate the case and track progress
    • Responsible for gathering of relevant medical records and invoices.
    • Gather and analyze medical intake information and obtain all relevant documents from attorneys, clients, or medical providers.
    • Conduct necessary follow-up to ensure all files are up to date.
    • Support Underwriters and Intake as needed.
    • Requires regular and consistent attendance.
    • Additional duties as required.

    Requirements/Skills:

    • BS/BA or equivalent experience required
    • 2+ years experience
    • Strong acumen, background, and familiarity with legal or medical services
    • Experience with Medical Records/Billing and Coding – Pain Management and orthopaedics.
    • Strong computer skills and ability to learn new computer software; Salesforce, MS Office

    Job Description

    The Underwriter’s day-to-day responsibilities include are centered on expanding and developing our “book” by underwriting cases, managing the underlying underwriting process, monitoring the current book of cases and participating in the collections process. The role requires frequent calls with attorneys and their staff to understand the unique attributes of cases and utilizing their underwriting acumen to form opinion of risk. The role also includes working with team members to improve processes and procedures to funding throughput.

    Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Underwrite, service, and maintain our book of business which includes plaintiff cash advance and medical fundings to plaintiffs with personal injury claims
    • Monitor, manage and report on
    • Work closely with intake, case management, risk management and finance to evaluate risk and provide solutions to customers.
    • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, multi-task, and make quick decisions while maintaining underwriting integrity
    • Leverage your underwriting expertise to review case files and provide a risk assessment, taking into account the anticipated case value, risk involved, and length of time to resolution, prior liens and any other relevant factors.
    • Maintains and monitors files being underwritten to ensure fundings are being handled efficiently and in a timely manner.
    • Monitor cases on-going by routine follow ups to assess case values, potential repayment risks or unusual changes in relationships.
    • Address any issues revealed by routine follow ups; i.e. change of attorney – send Notice of Lien along with Funding agreement to new attorney; attorney no longer represents client – send Notice of Lien to insurance and/or defense attorney
    • Identifies funding process and procedural inefficiencies and recommends changes to team.
    • Respond to payoff requests
    • Negotiate any reduction requests
    • Stay current on competition, underwriting environment, and market conditions and share that knowledge within the department.
    • Maintain relationships with existing producers and assist in the development of new producers.
    • Assist in special projects and reports.

    Required Qualification

    • 5+ years of underwriting or paralegal experience
    • Strong underwriting acumen
    • Strong math aptitude
    • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
    • Proven ability to develop & foster relationships,
    • Track record of working well within a team environment
    • Strong communication skills including advanced negotiation, communications and presentation experience
    • Ability to function kindly and efficiently in a high tempo work environment
    • BS/BA Degree or equivalent experience
